Our SLA Materials

Our Machines are in several facilities, Each facility offers unique "Rapid Prototyping" capacities and capabilities! Most Rapid Prototyping companies offer one or two choices of Resins, It is very difficult to switch a Machine from Resin to Resin, Resins that enable us to have your choice.

At any given time we have the below 4 different resins running in small and large format machines. If you don't see your resin please ask, we have 4 resins that are not on the "Instant Online Quoter" materials list including for example Somos ProtoTool 20L and Amethyst SL Material for the Jewelry Industry.

For a complete list or current list please contact us for availability and prices.

General Purpose Resin & Presentation Models Available for
"Instant Online Quoting".

Generally speaking Stereolithography Resin's are more similar to each other and generally are the same to the casual user. The mechanical properties very only slightly. We default our resin choice to "best" which allows us to choose which resin is best for you. See our "Best" page for more of an explanation of why you should choose this option. Typicly we build in .004* inch layers or less!

Resins for Presentation Models can be rigid and they can have the slight flexibility for snap fits. These snap fits are the sort that you see on small electronic cases.

White Resins

Somos® 14120****The hottest selling "Rigid" Material****

Somos® 9420****The hottest selling "Flexible" Material****

Clear Resins
(have a slight amber or green tint)

Somos® 11120 WaterShed "Fit Form Function Rigid"

Somos® 9120 "Fit Form Function Snap Fit"

Resin choices for Mold Making.

Resins for Mold Making are general purpose but more importantly rigid. We have resins for Mold Making. We offer all types of molds and cast duplicates here. These Resins are also great for "Fit Form Function".

QuickCast

QuickCast is a 3D Systems proprietary process that allows for the creation of direct shell investment castings using "QuickCast" stereolithography (SLA) patterns Resins! QuickCast is a process, not a resin.

The QuickCast method allows you to rapidly build** highly accurate resin patterns in stereolithography, bypassing the expensive and time-consuming step of tooling. QuickCast facilitates rapid production of small quantities of metal parts in much less time than traditional methods.

Instead of the SLA part being completely solid, QuickCast eliminates 95% of the internal mass of the part. This is achieved by curing only external surfaces and an internal lattice structure. Holes in the bottom of the part allow uncured resin to drain from the part. The result is a 65-80% hollow part with an internal beehive type lattice structure which gives the part tremendous structural integrity.

QuickCast replaces traditional wax patterns for investment casting with patterns created in a robust, durable material, without tooling and without delay. During burnout, the QuickCast pattern collapses before the ceramic shell can crack. The QuickCast pattern will burn out in the investment casting process with very little residue. Less mass yields less ash. The small amount of ash that remains in the cavity can easily be evacuated.

The net result is QuickCast patterns in one week or less and quality metal castings in 1 to 6 weeks (per investment caster's schedule), compared to 18 to 20 weeks by conventional methods. And best of all, Quickcast works with all castable metals and alloys.

Notes:

* .006 inch layers are the typical industry standard, some use .008 inch layers. Do you know what your current supplier is using?

**QuickCast is not the best option for saving cost, shelling or hollowing a solid part is the preferred method of making a part with less mass for quicker build and processing time.
